Beaucarnea Recurvata

Beaucarnea recurvata is from the agave family, native to Mexico. It  is a house plant that is perfect for beginners. Other common names include bottle neck palm, elephants foot or ponytail palm. The Ponytail Palm is  characterized  by its swollen base and its thick mop of long, strap like leaves 

It has a unique feature in the swollen base of the trunk, which is where it stores a reserve of water making it highly tolerant to drought.

Ponytail palm has few pests, but mealybugs or scale can be a problem.

Size

Ponytail palms grown outside in warm climates can reach heights of 20 feet or more. When grown as a houseplant, it will usually grows to about three feet tall.

Light

Ponytail palms prefer to have as much light as possible, so place the plant in a bright location. Bright, indirect sunlight is best.
